Lee
Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family and community service. He is the youngest child of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon. They raised him on the farm they owned in Eufala. Two soccer. He was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. All three made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. They also won 2 national titles. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975 and named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy's fourth time of service consisted of ten hours a week in volunteer work during the college. After college he settled in Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers played the all-pro 3 times, and began an entrepreneurial career. By 1988 he had become an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that the year 1982 was when The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of ten outstanding young people throughout the United States. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as an Associate Director of Sports. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
