Fawn Mckay

Fawn McKay was born in Ogden Utah on September 15 1915. Reared in the Mormon Church's very first family, Fawn McKay used her ingenuous abilities in the field of literature and impressive research skills to creating the remarkable psycho-historical account of Joseph Smith, published in 1945. It was entitled: The Only Man has My History. The title derives from the funeral sermon of Joseph Smith, who was the leader of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. His audience was shocked by his saying: "You don't even know my name. I haven't even met my heart." My past is not known by any one. My history is not known by anyone. Fawn was a 29-year-old Fawn. Since that time there have been at least three writers who have taken on the challenge. Some have deified and abused the man, and others are trying to find out the root of the problem. There's nothing wrong with it. It's not that there aren't enough documents but rather they are wildly contradictions. It's difficult to organize these records as well as separate the first-hand versions from copies that are third-hand and combine Mormon as well as non Mormon accounts together to form one coherent piece. It's an interesting and educational experience. That's the mission to which Fawn Brodie dedicated herself professionally. The results of her study and writing immortalized her with global fame. Thaddeus Stevens. Scourge of South (1959) The Devil Drives. The Life of Sir Richard Burton (1967) Thomas Jefferson. A Personal History of Richard Nixon (1974), in posthumously.
