Julie London

JulieJulie London (nee Peck, September 26, 1926 - October 18th 2000) is an American singer-actress whose career spans over 40 years. A torch performer renowned for her gorgeous, sultry contralto voice, London recorded over thirty albums of jazz and pop standards between 1955 between the years 1955 and 1969. The first time she was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame was the recording of "Cry Me a River", a song she first introduced in her debut album. London was nominated in 1974 to the Golden Globe Award as a actor for her performance in Emergency The Adventures of Dixie McCall. London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. Her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's career as an actor of 35 years began in film in 1944. It featured parts in the lead female in various westerns. In the middle of the 1950s, she signed a recording deal with Liberty Records, marking the beginning of her professional career. She released her final studio album in the year 1969, but achieved continuing success playing the female lead role of nurse Dixie McCall in the television series Emergency! (1972-1979), she was with her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb, her ex-husband was the producer of the show.
